JIPMER Puducherry announces MPH Phd Admissions 2015

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for admission to the courses mentioned hereunder for August, 2015 session 

Master of Public Health - Course (Code: 8907)


Duration of the Course: 2 Academic Years (4 Semester)
Intake Capacity: 25 Seats + 5 seats for Sponsored / Deputed candidates
Eligibility: Any applicant with qualification of MBBS Degree / BDS (Dental) / BE/B.Tech (Any Branch) / B.Sc (Nursing) / B.V.Sc (Veterinary Science) / AYUSH / Allied Health or Social Sciences of any recognized University / Statutory Body, in first attempt with at least 50% marks in aggregate
Two years of completed work experience in public health system is mandatory (on or before 31st July 2015)
Medical / Nursing Graduates should have registered with their respective state Registration Council
No. of Seats: 30 Seats (UR - 11, OBC - 08, SC - 04, ST - 02, Spon./Deputed - 05)

Method of Selection

The entrance exam is a online mode only; the entrance exam will be conducted in English medium only; the entrance exam will have 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) of single best response type; the duration of the test is one and half hours
Each answer with correct response will be given 4 marks and 1 mark shall be deducted for incorrect response
The Merit list will be drawn Category-wise; selected candidates will not be intimated individually
The results will be displayed in the Notice Board and in the website www.jipmer.edu.in only
There will be no individual communication
All Unreserved (UR) candidates securing less than 50% marks and OBC/SC candidates securing less than 40% marks in the Entrance Exam will not be considered for admission of JIPMER and their names will not be included in the merit list. Sponsored / Deputed candidates have to appear in the Entrance Examination securing not less than 50% of marks

PhD Course

Eligibility: Qualification as given below with a minimum of 55% or equivalent grade in any of the following exams:
M.Sc/M.Phil Degree/PG degree in any branch of Life Sciences of a recognized University; or MBBS Degree of recognized University; or DM/M.Ch/MD/DNB or equivalent Degree; or Qualified in any of the three National Entrance Tests (NET) for PhD-JRF under DBT /DST/ICMR/UGC
JRF qualified candidates also have to submit application through online process; however they need not appear for the entrance test
They will be placed in the merit order based on their scores along with the candidates who have appeared for JIPMER Entrance Test and will be counseled for their option
The candidates can choose any one of the discipline available for the PhD Programs at the time of counseling
NET qualified (Lectureship only) under DBT /DST/ICMR/UGC will not be considered

Method of Selection:

The exam will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) /Online
The paper is common for all the PhD courses; it consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) with sections on Research Methodology, Statistics, and Ethics of single best response type; the duration of the test is one and half hours
Each answer with correct response will be given four marks. Negative Marks will be given; for every incorrect response marked as correct one mark will be deducted
Minimum of 50% marks in the Entrance Exam will be required for the candidate to be eligible for counseling; the personal counseling carry no marks
Questions that are answered and “Marked for Review” will be considered as Answered

Application Exam Fees:

Master of Public Health (MPH): UR/OBC - Rs.700/- & SC/ST/OPH - Rs.500/-
Ph.D Course - Application Fee - Rs.1000/-
Candidates can apply for a maximum of two courses only
Mode of Payment: Only through Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card. Candidate need NOT be sent hard copy of the application to this office

Fees paid through Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidate can apply for only one course. Fees once paid shall not be refunded in any circumstances

Mode of payments are a) Net Banking, b) Credit Card, c) Debit Card

Hall Ticket

Hall Tickets for the entrance examination shall be available for download to eligible candidates, whose applications are complete and accurate in all respects, from 25th June 2015, (11.00 am) to 31st May 2015 (08.00 am)
The hall ticket will contain roll number, name, photo, signature and examination city/venue of the exam
Hall ticket can be downloaded from the website www.jipmer.edu.in as per the dateline given in the prospectus
Entrance Exam (Cities): Ambala, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Mumbai, New Delhi, Puducherry, Ranchi, Sonipat, Trivandrum, Vijayawada
The Allotment of Exam City by the Institute will be final and binding
In case of any unforeseen circumstances the Exam City can be cancelled at any point of time and a new Exam City can be allotted en bloc with due intimation in newspapers / website
The entrance exam will be held on 12th July 2015 (Sunday) from 10.00 AM to 11.30 AM

MPH Courses: Registration Fee Rs.500/-; Tuition fee (per annum) Rs.350/-; Laboratory Fees (per annum) Rs.900/-; Security Deposit Rs.1000/-; Total (Fee in INR) Rs.2750/-
Ph.D Courses: Academic Fees (Annual) - Rs.2100/-; Admission Fees (One time payment) Rs.3000/-; Learning Resource Fee (One time) for whole duration - PhD Programs Rs.9000/-; Total (Fee in INR) - Rs.14100/-
